The Naples Press seeks an associate editor to lead the weekly newspaper and oversee day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate is passionate about print and creating in-depth, comprehensive news content for its readers in Naples and Collier County.

The associate editor will generate, assign and edit all copy, with an emphasis on hyper-local news coverage, and maintain open lines of communication with writers, photographers, designers and EIC.

You will:

Write editorial copy ranging in length from headlines and photo captions to full-length features when necessary
Serve as primary copy editor, text editor and fact-checker for editorial materials and oversee the flow of all editorial copy and its corrections at every stage, from raw copy to print-ready submission; track progress of edit and art throughout issue
Manage freelance contributors
Assist during company events as requested

You have:

5+ years in publishing, ideally with a focus on news and local content
Exceptional editing and writing skills
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Strong working knowledge of AP Style
Experience as team leader
